How can I create a Lookbook page with the Dawn theme?

How can I create a Lookbook page with the Dawn theme?

Hi,

I have downloaded the free 'Dawn'  theme which has a Lookbook main menu item.
I would like to know how this page was created, or is there a template which I'm overlooking?

The current Shopify default page creator is a nightmare to use, very tedious and frustrating. And I don't end up with good results. It's also causing me huge delays unless I pay someone to help me with this which seems silly.

A much better idea would be a drag and drop function to create a simple Lookbook for a clothing store. This should honestly be a default page template on all clothing stores. It could be renamed to a seasonal collection or specific collection etc.
I have also bought the Modular theme which has included a template for creating pages that can be duplicated. It has limitations but it is nevertheless a huge help and a pleasure to use. I am however now needing a very simple site currently, and the Dawn theme is perfect but for the Lookbook page, which hooked me in but now see I have to create it from scratch using the default page builder.
Any help/suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks 🙂

It is odd default dawn installations dont have that alternate template but is probably to minimize confusion, though then it's odd they don't even have a help doc explaining how to set it up. May want to contact support and make the feature request known that this aspect of the dawn theme is confusion and frustrating to new users. https://help.shopify.com/en/support/login

Meanwhile the lookbook on the dawn demo really is just page using a collage section then a featured collection product grid section. The college is setup to use a curated selection of images sizes which is what can actually end up being the hardest part to create.

Create an alternative page template so the lookbook has it's own template separate from normal pages then assign it to a page and setup the sections using pre-edited images.

Shopify is an ecommerce company first, not a visual theme editor company. If you want a first class web building experience you will need to pay a good ongoing amount monthly for a page building service that does that as their core product.

Why is it silly to pay someone for their experience to get good results while you avoid tedium and frustration.

Value your time.

Hi, thanks for the reply...

I don't mean it is silly to pay someone to help - maybe you've misunderstood my meaning. Of course I'm prepared to pay for help but not at this early stage.

I meant it seems silly at this stage to need help, as one assumes a feature like this would be part of the theme structure, and so far I'm able to customise, though need help with shipping and payment gateways etc., and possibly navigation. At which point I will certainly need professional help, and happy to pay for it.

The Lookbook menu item is why I chose the theme. It is also part of the visual aspect of the theme which I want to do myself. Maybe someone could help with creating a drag and drop template if not actually built in as a default page, as there is no instruction on how to create this specific page.

A 'Lookbook' page should almost be a default page template on all clothing stores... That would be a huge plus 🙂

Hi SeaMe,

I do agree that the lookbook page or gallery page should be added to themes...

But if you are still looking for a way to make lookbook page, using our Shopify App might be the solution.

https://apps.shopify.com/gallery-app-1

This is the lookbook page that can be made by our app.

And can create popups on clicking the lookbook images, which makes easier access to your products.

Let me know if you need any help for app setup.

We are happy to help!
