Re: Viewing multiple blog posts in Debut

Solved

How can I display all blog posts in date order on Debut?

I'm using Debut and would like the Blog section to display all my blog posts in date order.  I've added a blog section, but by default it's forcing me to choose a single blog post.

Is this possible?

Hey, @nourish1

Thank you for sending the video, it was really helpful.

It appears that you have created multiple blogs with one post each instead of a series of posts under the same blog. You will need to nest all your posts under one unique blog if you want to display them by date in the same page.

1) From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Blog Posts.

2) If you have created multiple blogs, you will be able to see them when you click the Blog dropdown menu. As you can see below, my first blog is called "News (original blog)" and the second is "Test Nourish". Make sure none of them is selected, so you can see all the posts that are contained in all blogs.

3) In this case, we have 1 post that is in the "Test Nourish" blog and three that are in the "News" blog.

4) To move posts to a different blog, click the name of the post. Inside the post editor, under Blog, select the blog you want to move the post to and click Save.

Now that you've nested all your posts under the same blog, you can repeat the steps mentioned on my previous post and add your blog to your main navigation menu.

1) On your Shopify Admin, click Navigation > Main menu.

2) Click Add menu item, or choose an existing menu item to edit.

3) Select Blog > name of desired blog.

4) Remember to save and publish your changes.

If you want to have different pages for different blogs, all you have to do is create one menu item for each of your blogs. You could, for example, have a drop-down menu displaying all your different blogs. Here is a great doc if you want to learn even more about setting up your blogs.

After following these instructions, does the issue still appear?

Hello @nourish1

Congrats on your store. It's beautiful. I understand you wish to display your blog posts by date on your Blog page, but the Debut theme only shows one post. I believe you linked the section "blog posts" to your main menu. In which case, the theme will ask you to pick one post only. In order to display your posts by date order, you need to link the "blog" section to your main menu instead.

Please see how to change this below:

  1. On your Shopify Admin, click on Navigation > Main Menu
  2. On the menu item related to your blog, click Edit.
  3. Select Blog > News (or how you named your blog).
  4. Remember to save and publish your changes.

I created a video here to help you with the process.

To learn more about Debut and its sections, take a look at this great doc.

Does this help resolve your issue? Let me know if you have any more questions.

I tried this and it generates a link called 'Blog' in the menu which takes me to /blogs/blog1

This page is a summary of a single blog post, not all 3

/blogs just 404s

I'm having the same problem myself and have applied all these instructions but it doesn't seem to work.

If you go to navigation>main menu>blogs and add a new one in, it just replaces the old one, either way you end up with one blog. All the blogs are directed to the "default blog post" theme template so in theory they should all show up there but it only holds one at a time!
