How can I display an image instead of video for MS Edge users who have blocked media autoplay?

I know this is a long shot but hoping maybe someone knows how to implement this.

Microsoft Edge by default blocks the autoplay video I have on my site's homepage:

It's purely decorative with no audio so it's not obnoxious but Edge displays a huge, ugly black space where the video would be playing if it were allowed.

Is there a way to detect when Edge is being used and instead of displaying the video, it simply shows a JPG banner in its place? Even better might be having a "play" button on the JPG so when it's clicked, it plays the video.

If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them!
