How can I edit and reorder product types on my store's homepage?

Hi! I am seeking advice on how to edit product types. We use both types and collections to organize products, and we have our general product types along the sidebar on our home page. While I know how to go into a specific product and assign it to a "product type," I cannot find where to edit and delete product types so that they no longer show on the sidebar on the homepage. Any help appreciated, thank you! 

EDIT: Figured it out- didn't realize it was as simple as deleting the product type from all of the categorized products, and it will automatically remove that type. Now I am trying to figure out how to reorder the product types on my stores sidebar, they are defaulting to alphabetical.
