How can I filter products without photos in Shopify?

Is there any way to filter products in Shopify so that only products WITHOUT photos will appear?

As the proprietor of a specialty grocery store within the Shopify ecosystem, our inventory is in a constant state of flux, particularly with seasonal changes. With new products being added regularly in our fast-paced environment, it's not uncommon for product photos to be overlooked initially, despite their crucial role in driving online sales.

The challenge we face is the arduous task of sifting through our extensive product catalog to identify items lacking accompanying images. This process, done manually page by page, is not only time-consuming but also prone to errors given the sheer volume of products we manage.

So, my question to the community is this: Does Shopify offer a feature that allows for the filtering of products based on whether they have associated photos? If not, is there the possibility of such a feature being developed and integrated into the platform.

Implementing such a feature would not only streamline our workflow but also ensure that our online storefront remains visually appealing and conducive to driving sales.

I would greatly appreciate any insights or feedback from fellow merchants or Shopify experts on this matter.

Hey @BMcQ,

Can I have the link to your store? and the Theme you are using. This should be possible but I need to test it out on my development store.

Was I helpful?

You could do an automation to tag any product that is missing a photo and then pull up a list in the backend of all the products with that tag. Or even send yourself a slack/email notification every time a missing image is detected.

I think you can probably do this in flow, but if you're open to a 3rd party app, I could build out and test that workflow for you with our app mesa.

Hi BMcQ

I'm having the same issue as yourself. We have a brick and mortar store with around 6 thousand physical product pages and half my inventory is also online. There is only two of us and when we receive new products it's are to keep up with that product pages need photos.

Having a way to search product pages missing photos or possibly other key info would be very helpful.

a late response but might help others.

Use the export button within the products page and download into excel all your products.  Within that download file is a column heading 'Image Src' ( image source)  this will have the url links to any of the images you have downloaded to use, or file links to images you have created and stored locally.  However where there is a blank you can assume that no image has been attached, and therefore the product has no image. You can use the filtering option in excel to search for just blanks, and that will filter out all products with no image, or a common name for a default image you might have used.
