How can I insert a link in my first blog post?

I am creating my first blog post. I would like to add a link to my about me page. In the future I would also like to link to other artist websites as well. There is an "insert link" button available but it will not let me use it. Why? How can I do this?

I'm sorry to hear that you have been experiencing issues with linking your pages on blog posts. Ideally, you should be able to insert links (hyperlinks) in blog posts, pages, product descriptions, and collection descriptions with the rich text editor. A common reason why this may not appear to work is due to the Insert link button being grayed out as no text has been highlighted. Rest assured, I will walk you through the steps on how to do so:

• Highlight the text or image that you want to turn into a link.
• Click Insert link.
  Enter the destination URL for the link in the Link to field:
• Enter a short description of the link in the Link title box.
• Choose how the link will open with the Open this link in menu:
• the same window: The link will open in a user's existing browser tab or window.
• a new window: The link will open in a new browser tab or window.
• Click Insert link to convert your highlighted text into a link.

I am having a similar problem with the Insert Image button. It was working fine last week but now it does NOTHING! I can copy and paste an image from a prior post but that doesn't help me!  I do NOT want the featured image which is WAY too big! Why has this button stopped working???

I hope this reply works through email. the first screenshot is the blog I
cannot get an image into. You can see that the Insert Image button is NOT
grayed out but it does NOTHING! Same thing with the INSERT VIDEO button.
The second screenshot shows the blog I did a week or two ago and the image
button worked fine. But if I click on those buttons now in that post
-NOTHING HAPPENS AGAIN! WTH????

I CANNOT TAKE THIS ANYMORE! Now the damned LINK button is not working in the Dawn theme blogs! So, now the INSERT IMAGE, INSERT VIDEO AND  LINK buttons DO NOT WORK and NO ONE is helping with this!!! WTF is wrong with this damned theme? It was working fine a week ago! I tried downloading the updated version but there is no way to test these issues without publishing the theme! What kind of crap is this???? Where is the customer service?? Sorry for flipping out, but this is pathetic!!! I'm trying to get a business off the ground and I cannot even get the damned program to work! And you want to CHARGE me for this in another two months??? I don't think so!
