How can I round the borders of selected thumbnail images?

I have been able to edit my theme's css to round out the corners of the images. The problem is, this does not round out the corners of the selected thumbnail image. How would I go about rounding out the border around the selected thumbnail image?

This is the css I am using that is working properly. 

.image {
border-radius: 8px;
}

This is the css I am using that is not working properly.

.rounded-border {
border-radius: 8px;
overflow: hidden;
}
.product-thumbnails__item-link.active {
border-radius: 8px;
}

You can try this code by following these steps: 

Step 1: Go to Online Store->Theme->Edit code.

Step 2: Search file theme.css

Step 3: Paste the below code at bottom of the file -> Save

.product-thumbnails__item-link.active:after {

    border-radius: 9px !important;

}
