Re: Navigation Links To Other Websites

Solved

How can I set website navigation links to open in a new window?

Hi all,

I hope there is a way to make this happen. I have three links on my website where when clicked, it takes the donor to another website. One in the header navigation, one in the footer navigation and one on the homepage. The problem is it opens in the same window. I want it to open in a different window since its on a different website. I hope that makes sense. Is there anyway to do that? I am using the Dawn theme. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! Oh, and my website is www.PennsylvaniaParks.org.

HI Justin,

All you need to do is add target="_black" to the anchor links you have added.

Thanks

Can you share a screenshot of where you have added that link in the settings?

Umm, I didn't add nothing under setttings. I simply added the link when creating a navigation menu. I went to  online store, navigation, clicked on the menu I wanted to add the link, add menu item, entered link name and pasted the link then clicked save. The link opens when I click on it but its opening in the same window tab. I want it to open in a different window tab. I hope to God I am explaining this right.

Instead of making it into a confusing hash, why not just provide an example instead of a reply with a generalised instruction "All you need to do is add target="_black" to the anchor links you have added."

I know... there are so many of these kinds of replies that are unprofessional and time wasters; "just ad js, just add html" and with no examples what exactly they mean, or how to go about.
