How do I add the currency symbol at checkout?

Hello,

I have many clients messaged me asking me why the prices at check out are higher.  Most of my clients are Americans and they did not know checkout is in Canadian dollars.

How do I put a note in the checkout that it is in Canadian dollars etc?

Thank you

Hey there, @preloved-lux!

Ryder here, from the Social Care Team at Shopify. Thanks for posting! Are you by any chance using Shopify Payments as your payment gateway? If so, you might be interested in setting up selling in multiple currencies.

If not, that's no problem! I have another suggestion. While it may be more convoluted to display on the checkout, you can consider adding it onto your cart page, where the "Taxes and shipping calculated at checkout" or "Tax included and shipping calculated at checkout" message is displayed:

This area can be customized by going into your Admin > Online store > Themes > Actions > Edit languages.

Under the "Cart" tab, you'll see the different options or variations of taxes being calculated at checkout or included in the pricing. Whichever variation you're currently using on your cart page is the one you'll want to customize. The options with HTML include links in the text.

For example, mine shows "Shipping" as a link so I chose to edit the Taxes included and shipping policy html field:

I simply added the note "Please note, checkout total will be calculated in CAD currency." as shown here:

This is how it appeared after saving changes:

You can also look at making an edit in another field if you'd prefer it to be displayed in the checkout by going to the "Checkout" tab; however, the checkout content isn't ideal for this kind of note. If you'd like to learn more about the Language Editor, we have a guide you can reference here

I hope this information helps! Please let me know if there's anything I can clarify.

Cheers.
