How do I add unique colour changeable borders to collection boxes in collection lists? (Boost Theme)

I would like to add a stroke border around collection boxes within a collection window. I want to be able to change the colour of each individual box. Perhaps some code that can be in the pages custom CSS box for each page? Then I can change all the colours to suit. The website is VERY colourful. These borders will really set off the design.

I am using Boost theme. The boxes have rounded corners and should remain so. In an ideal world they would change, perhaps disappear on hover. That will of course not be relevant on mobile so really is an extravagance.
