How do you add a password input field directly on the main password page of the Shopify dawn theme

Hi, I am trying to customize a Shopify password page and add a password input field directly on the main password page of the Shopify Dawn theme instead of using the default "Enter using password" link, I added the input, but the button isn't working. if anyone has figured this out or can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
