How to add a simple non-stretched image with no text to the home page?

I don't see any option to add an image to the home page on the standard debut theme. I see several options for gallery, image with text, image with text overlay, etc. but I see no option to add a single image with no text. 

If I attempt to add an image via the gallery, it then gives me no options as far as alignment or stretching of image. I don't want any stretching to occur. 

This is very basic, just an image placed on page, no stretching of any kind. When I go to customize the home page I don't see the option to add this. Do I have to buy a theme to add this ability?

Hello, has this code been added?  I do not see "gallery" as an option - just slideshow with image...I would just like to add an image with no text.  Thank you.

Use the shopify preloaded section "gallery". It will auto add 3 images in a row on your site. In the admin editor simply click on the 2nd photo block and an option to remove that block appears. Remove the 2nd and 3rd photo block. Now click on the 1st photo block and select or upload your desired photo.

Doing the above will give you a single photo on your Shopify website with no text. I believe this section is a default across all Shopify themes.

I am having the same issue. I don't see "gallery" as an option. I see "slideshow", "image with text", "collage", "image banner" ... None of these provide a fullscreen image with no heading, or text. 

Any advice? Thanks
