How to add: Color swatches with linked variant images

I want to achieve some basic functionality most appeal store's got:
- Color swatches showing colour instead of written words
- Product variant images linked with the colour swatches (only showing the product images link to the selected color)

I'm using the Dawn Shopify 2.0 theme and am unfamiliar with coding. 

I've tried this app: G:Variant Image + Color Swatch but now I have the variant picker showing twice.

How would I go about achieving this? Would it be best to configure an app or hire a Shopify Expert to do this?

 I just wrote a code to add a color swatch for Dawn Theme with multiple shapes to choose from. Its totally FREE and no APPS needed. Code  and instructions are at the video description

You can add this features without App.

Just follow this video steps:
