Re: How to Add Fields to the Admin Product View

How to Add Fields to the Admin Product View

Hello,

I cannot find the answer to what seems like a very basic question. I want to customize my Admin Product view. Currently, it only shows Product, Status, Inventory, Type, and Vendor. Since I'm the only vendor and all the products are artwork, I don't need either of those. I do need to see other criteria like price. However, I can't seem to find out how to add a column or choose what criteria I want to show on the default view. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks,

Lisa

hello there

To customize the product view in your Shopify admin and add columns for additional criteria such as price, you can use the "Product List" app or a third-party app like "Better Admin Products" or "Product Filter & Search".

Here's how to use the "Product List" app to customize the product view:

  1. Install the "Product List" app: Go to the Shopify App Store and search for "Product List". Install the app and follow the prompts to connect it to your Shopify store.

  2. Customize the product view: Once the app is installed, go to your Shopify admin and click on "Products". You should see a new "Product List" tab. Click on this tab to access the app's customization options.

  3. Add columns: In the "Columns" section of the app, you can choose which criteria to display in the product view. Click on the "+" button to add a new column, and then select the criteria you want to display (such as price).

  4. Customize the view: In the "View" section of the app, you can further customize the product view by changing the order of the columns, adjusting the column width, and adding filters and sorting options.

  5. Save your changes: Once you are happy with your customizations, click on the "Save changes" button to apply them to the product view.

Hello,

Thanks for your suggestion. I found a Products List Pro app and installed
it. I followed your instructions. However, it does not show up in my
Products section anywhere. No new tabs or functionality. Is this the app
you are referring to?

I am looking for the same type of solution and tried to find the apps you refer to and can't find any of them.  I get search returns of over 1200 apps on all of them. Any suggestions on how to actually find what you suggest?  Thanks.

I need to do the same thing. I want to change the view of the products in the "admin" section. I do not need to see Vendor, Markets or Sales channels. I want to see the SKU, Price etc. How do we change this? Thanks!

Exactly!! Seems to me that this should be easily attained without having to look to a 3rd party app for help. I also need to see SKU and price without markets, channels, etc. Geez! This shouldn't be so difficult.

I agree! I've been dying for retail and cost pricing to be added to the product admin page. It is ridiculous that we cannot see this information, or that we have to buy some 3rd party app to see it. Ugh!  Shopify, if you're listening, we need this updated STAT!!

For all those still looking for an answer, I contacted Shopify directly and was told this was not possible due to a limitation with the Shopify platform.  We can only hope it gets added in to one of the future updates.

They don't want to provide even the basic abilities for an admin. As basic as sorting abilities for the products by price in the admin view.

I think that for now the best we can do is selecting all the products and clicking on the "Bulk edit" button that appears floating on the bottom area. This will open a new page with a table containing all the products and we can choose which columns to show (from the top right).

Unfortunately, that doesn't change anything for me. I appreciate the help, though.

This seems like such a basic thing that should be standard on shopify.  Instead we have to install outside apps who have access to our internal private data....

it is such a hassle to open individual products to see their price.

although its an easy thing. SHOPIFY please allow users to add more fields to the product list page

This is crazy!  I don't know of any business that doesn't use SKU or model numbers, etc. to identify products... yet Shopify seems to not understand that or doesn't realize how actual businesses work.  For the most part, when someone is on that screen, they don't really care what "markets" or "sales channels" a product is added to when looking up an item or group of items. Vendor is ridiculous! Way down the list for useful data....

We need to know the ID number (SKU, etc. Not that 30-digit Shopify ID or Variant ID!), current stock, the price, a sale price would be good...  When is Shopiffy going to fix this huge shortcoming? We can modify the columns in the Orders Screen, why not Products?

I would sure like this ability, too. Specifically for SKU and Price. Very basic.

It doesn't seem like an app is allowed to touch this area.
