How to automatically asign category metafields/objects to products?

How to automatically asign category metafields/objects to products?

Hi all,

Our company sells bike paints and we are planning to use the colour swatches on the product page to display to product's colour. For this we have used Matrixify to upload all Hex colour codes and create a new product variant called 'color.

But it seems the last step is to tell Shopify for every product that the category metafields/objects for colour is in fact the variant 'colour' that we had uploaded, in order for it to show the colour as a swatch.

Please see my screenshot.

Since our store has 2.400+ SKU's I would be grateful if there was a method to do is automatically.

Thank you.

Olaf

Hi Olaf,

You can use Bulk Edit to edit product category and category metafields, just like editing a spreadsheet 🙂 Not sure if an automatic way has been made yet.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your reply.

So just to clarify, we have already assigned the colours to every products as you can see here

To problem is instructing Shopify to connect the category metaobject 'colour' with the product variant 'colour'.

So my gut feeling tells me this has more to do with the metaobjects than with the products.

I see. Not entirely sure with this but your option is to use GraphQL to make the changes programmatically/automatically. 😬

Unfortunately, we were not able to find a proper solution to automate this task, so we had to hire a person to do this manually. 2645 times.
