How to change "Add to cart" to "Customize"

Hey, I'm new to shopify and am excited to get my shop up and going doing custom laser engraving of a bunch of different products. The last issue I have is the Add to cart button bypasses all the customization options. I have no coding skills and all of the tutorials I find online don't seem to work. I'm using the Refresh theme if that helps. Willing to switch to another free theme if it gives the option easier.
