How to change selector style for mobile only on product page?

Can someone please hold my hand through changing the product page variant selector page from block to dropdown on mobile only?

Thank you very much. Just to clarify things I am only looking to change the menu style for product pages on mobile browsers only, I would like to leave the desktop version as block selectors. 

eg. A product with 25 variants on desktop looks fine, but on a mobile browser the page is extended and there's a lot of empty space when you scroll down because of how long the variant blocks are.

I'm open to use whatever is needed to get it done. I have VS Code, but I have not used Shopify Script Editor before. Are you talking about the dropdown menu in online store themes that says "edit code" ?

Thank you, that is correct. 

I'd like to leave the menu style as is for the desktop version, but change the menu on mobile to a dropdown list.
