How to create a mobile-friendly banner on Venture Theme?

Hello!!

I have found a few odds and ends on this issue but none seem to work. Can anyone explain how to create a banner/slider on the site that is workable on table and mobile and doesn't look horrible?

What's the secret to this?

We want an image but there is text as well.
