I have reading threads all night on how to do this. 

I do not see the CART option in my theme settings to enable this option- can someone help, please?

I'm Miles from the Social Care team at Shopify. I'll be happy to walk you through setting up an order notes section in your cart.

You can find the cart settings for your theme in either the Theme settings, or in a customizable section on your Cart page. Follow the steps below, or refer to the theme's documentation for more information about how to find this setting in your theme.

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
  2. Find the theme that you want to edit, and then click Customize.
  3. First, look for the order notes setting in your Theme settings.
    • Click Theme settings.
    • Click Cart.
    • Look for Enable order notes or Enable cart notes.
  4. If your theme doesn't have an order notes setting in Theme settings, then look for the setting in the Cart or Cart settings section on your Cart page.
    • Select Cart.
    • Click the Cart or Cart settings section. Not all themes have a customizable section on this page.
    • Look for Enable order notes or Enable cart notes.
  5. Check Enable order notes or Enable cart notes.
  6. Click Save.

Hi,

I have followed these steps, but there is nowhere in either of those sections that has a box to check for "enable cart notes" .  I am using the Debut light theme.  I have gone through the settings and cannot find this anywhere.  Any help would be appreciated!

Hey I have the same issue. I am using debut, and there is no "cart". Please help. Your suggestions though good, did not help this time.

Thanks for getting in touch to let me know you're not able to enable the cart notes section in Debut.

Since posting this solution, we've updated our themes so enabling cart notes is now found in a different section. I've outlined the new steps below.

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
  2. Find the theme that you want to edit, and then click Customize.
  3. On the top, change the dropdown from "Home Page" to "Cart".
  4. On the sidebar, click "Cart page" and check the box that says "Enable cart notes".

This should resolve any issues you're facing when enabling cart notes. As you're using a free theme from Shopify, then you might be able to contact Shopify Support for help with this tutorial. To learn more, refer to Support for themes.

Hi I have the Capital theme and I do not see the option to enable notes in either the  settings or the cart page.  Do I need a new theme or could I just get an app for this?
