How to make product descriptions using "modules" of pre-made text?

Hi,

We sell car styling kits, hundreds of products but there are only a few styles and colours, while many different car models.

Is there a feature within shopify, or an app that will let us create descriptions as if we were building with the same lego bricks (modules), instead of having to write the same thing over and over again. Some fields will be unique but for others, multiple products will share the same general description.

For example, When creating the description for a product, we can just select the relevant (pre-made) style module; colour module; and compatible car model module, instead of have to repeatedly write up descriptions for each product.

Maybe it’s like a type of metafield with pre-filled contents, not under each product, but stored in the system and available for each product to select and utilise.

Many thanks!

Hi @metropolitan,

You can refer https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/custom-data/metaobjects

You can absolutely use metaobjects for it, everything will work the same way you expect.

Hello,

Thank you for the reply. I have been messing around and figured it out. I do have a second question though.

As you can see this is my metaobject, filled with templates / entries that I can quickly assign (reference as shopify calls it) to different products.

Is there a way to automate the referencing / assigning part, based on tags. For example, this product needs the "bmw grille dual b3 easy" metaobject entry. How could I make it so if I apply a tag to the product "B3", it would know to use the "B3" template I've created.

Thanks!!

Hi @metropolitan,

This is not possible, the metaobject will be visible to all.

The tag will be used to display specific metaobjects with code, but it doesn't work the way you want
