Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
Hello everyone,
I have been facing an issue with the default region setting in the checkout process of a store. Currently, the region field in the checkout always shows one of the regions as the default value. This is causing problems as many customers from other regions do not change the region, resulting in incorrect order processing.
I have been in contact with Shopify support several times, but we have not found a satisfactory solution. Here’s a summary of the conversation:
Sakshi suggested adjusting the shipping zones to include specific regions. However, this does not solve the default value issue in the region field.
Karlis suggested adding a note in the address field at checkout to remind customers to select the correct region. He also mentioned the possibility of using geolocation apps.
Ron mentioned that we could change the default value of the region dropdown to null, but did not provide specific details on how to do this.
Shamay confirmed that it is currently not possible to leave the region blank/null and suggested using apps to add custom notes in the checkout.
My main query is how I can set the region field in the checkout to have a null default value, forcing customers to select their region. Has anyone else encountered this problem and found a solution? Is there any adjustment in the code that can achieve this?
I appreciate any help or suggestions you can offer.
Thank you!
