How to? When one variant sells out, all variants show "sold out”

Hello folks,

I'm trying to set up my one-of-a-kind products so that when one product variant is sold out, it automatically makes all variants of that product sold out as well.

I have one-of-a-kind products that can include an accessory if selected. I use variants for this:

variant 1) product w/o accessory.

variant 2) product with accessory.

The problem is that when I sell either variant, the item is gone. I can't sell the other variant. So, I need all variant to show "sold out" when any variant is sold out.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Dustin

To automatically mark all variants of a one-of-a-kind product as sold out when one variant is sold out, you can use Shopify's inventory management feature. Here are the steps you can follow:

  1. Go to your Shopify admin panel and click on the "Products" tab.
  2. Click on the one-of-a-kind product that you want to manage.
  3. Click on the "Edit" button next to the variant that you want to manage.
  4. Scroll down to the "Inventory" section and click on "Shopify tracks this product's inventory".
  5. In the "SKU" field, enter a unique identifier for this variant.
  6. In the "Inventory policy" section, select "Shopify tracks this product's inventory".
  7. Set the "Inventory quantity" to 1.
  8. Click on the "Save" button to save your changes.

Repeat these steps for all variants of the one-of-a-kind product.

Hi there,

Thanks so much for the reply! I knew there had to be a built-in solution to this issue.

To clarify, should all of the variants within one product have the same sku or a unique sku for each variant within one product? I assume the same sku in order for the inventory tracking to be linked...

Thank you!

Hi, did you ever find a solution for this? I am hoping to do the same with with my one of a kind products. The sku trick doesn't seem to be working for me.
