Image With Text Getting Cropped In Dawn Theme

I have struggles making the images appear without being cropped.

The images get cropped in width on desktop view and cropped in height on mobile view.

1st question: How can I make the images appear uncropped, in the correct aspect ratio?

2nd question: How do I add styles like drop shadow to the image?
