Impulse Theme: Change how my search bar appears

Hello,

In Impulse theme, when search icon is clicked, the search bar overtakes the complete header. I want to change it to simple bar that appears when the search icon is clicked.

Here is how it looks like currently,

I want to see if it's possible to have the search-bar in the impulse theme to be in the center versus in the Header where it currently is (top left)

Yes - I want to overlay a search-bar in the center banner. It is currently a video, but I can change it to a photo if that is easier.
