Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
I currently use the “Dawn” theme for my Shopify store, which sells handmade jewelry. While the theme is free and responsive, I feel that it lacks the elegance and sophistication needed to match my brand identity. I’ve noticed that some competitors in the same niche use premium themes with sleek designs, interactive galleries, and more customization options. My bounce rate on the homepage is 58%, and I suspect the overall aesthetic might not be captivating enough to keep visitors engaged.
Can someone send the advice for my personal case.
Thanks in advance!

Absolutely! It sounds like you’re in a common situation where a basic theme like “Dawn” may no longer align with the premium, elegant vibe you want for your handmade jewelry store. Let me break it down and offer some actionable advice.
While the Dawn theme is fantastic for starting out (it’s lightweight, responsive, and free), it does lean more toward simplicity. This can feel more minimalistic than luxurious, which doesn’t quite convey the high-end image your handmade jewelry deserves. Since you’re noticing a bounce rate of 58%, the first impression might not be strong enough to hook your visitors.
1-Consider a Premium Theme
Themes like Impulse, Prestige, or Focal are excellent for luxury niches like jewelry.
2-Yes, these come with a price tag (usually $250–$350), but think of it as an investment in your brand.
3-Optimize Visual Content
Handmade jewelry buyers are drawn to high-quality, detailed images. Add:
4-Refine Your Brand Identity on the Homepage
Since your homepage is key to engagement, make sure it tells a story:
5-Test User Experience (UX)
If you’re unsure about the design direction, try A/B testing a free theme upgrade or premium theme trial (most themes offer a free preview). See how changes impact engagement.
Here’s a snippet of what switching to a premium theme like Impulse might look like:
Current Dawn Theme Code for Hero Section:
{% section 'header' %}
Impulse Theme Hero Section (with interactive gallery):
{% section 'slideshow' %}
{% section 'featured-product' %}
Notice how the Impulse theme lets you instantly elevate visuals with more dynamic sections.
If your competitors are using premium themes and your aesthetic doesn’t quite match up, this is likely a contributing factor to that bounce rate. Switching to a more elegant theme will not only elevate your store but also give potential buyers more confidence in your brand’s quality. Start with a trial of one or two premium themes to see which fits best!
If you need help picking a theme or setting it up, I’m happy to assist further.
Best regards,
Daisy
You can use the Dawn theme, I can hire a shopify developer which can edit the theme and templates make the design as per your need.
Using the Dawn we can achieve any design in shopify, without effecting on website speed.

Hey @DarylMaguire95
Personally with my experience, I wouldn't recommend Dawn theme for a handmade jewelry store. If you really wanna take your store professionally then I would recommend Prestige theme as it matches good for jewelry store. Again, it depends on how your store is designed on that theme so if you need any help with designing then feel free to let me know and I would be more than happy to help you out! Good luck with your store!
Best Regards,
Moeed
