Keep square image ratio, but zoom out image to fit more?

Is it possible to keep the square image ratio for my products under product list, but have the image zoomed out more to fit the image. Some images are longer than others and some don't fit.

Sunglasses don't fit into a portrait, but some don't fit into a square.  

I want to do square but have the image zoomed out more. 

Also keep the prices aligned too. Is this more of an issue for the product images being different sizes?

How about if you change product image to the same size and zoom? By that way, it will display the same. It is the normal way we can fix it for all products
