Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
I am creating a Shopify store and am currently using the 'dawn' theme. Not surprisingly, I am looking for some extra features/functionality that Dawn doesn't natively support. One of the features is a little unique and I found an add-on that allows my store to function the way I would like for that need. This 'feature' allows a shopper to buy a custom length product (user can purchase some of my products in 1 inch increments and have it priced 'by the inch') In my example, a user can select a product to be anywhere from 1" to 72" and the product is priced accordingly.
I'm finding out that Dawn doesn't support a few other features that I'm desiring. I prefer not to subscribe to multiple add-on's if possible. One add-on is ok (Easify seemed to work for me).....but I don't want to use 5 different add-on's if there's a single theme that solves my needs.
Looking through the 1000's of available themes is a little overwhelming. Is there a 'trick' to finding a theme that contains certain features/functions that I need? Some of the features I'm looking for are probably solutioned by most 3rd party themes.....but some features I feel are a little unique. I'm not very experienced and prefer not to make code changes is possible.

⚠️Shopify DOES NOT support by-the-measure natively, the simplest approach is to make variants the "length" option then let the quantity a customer adds to the cart be the total size/length/weight/dimensions.
There is similar feature selling by unit that is only available for EU or Switzerland stores because regulating commerce matters.
Meaning: if you are a merchant just looking/starting at shopify but have shortlisted other ecommerce platforms this is probably the make or break factor to (re)consider before even reading the rest of this.

Hi @gleininger 👋 regardless of themes, your looking for sell-by-the-measure pricing, sell by weight, sell by length etc, or selling by unit(see above).
And any keywords that parallel that concepts terminology in searching the forums or apps.
Solutions and workarounds commonly found in talks about food products, coffee, fabric, windows, floor tiles etc
💣 Themes, since this is not a generalized shopify feature most themes on the shopify theme store do not have support for such feature; third party marketplaces may have themes such features however merchants should make themselves informed by researching the tradeoffs of using third party marketplace themes.
So pretty much every solution is a workaround.
Either through apps or advanced theme customizations.
Even then it can be a constant headache or compounding kludge, such as in sales reports, inventory tracking, fulfillment etc.
Merchants that need theme customizations, to support selling by measure / unit, can contact me for services.

ALWAYS please provide context, examples: store url, theme name, post url(s) , or any further detail in ALL correspondence.

It's fine here the context is still on themes, though it's a general platform issue for these business models.

Money , money is the trick for handling vagueness by hiring developers/agencies to outsource the knowledge work to iterate the problem statements.

A big money saving trick for shopify, ecommerce, business, and life is other people are not mind readers, don't be coy, don't make others guess, or dig the info out of you.
"certain features/functions" is a worthlessly vague non-question that easily leads to non-answers.
Be descriptive of the goal(s) upfront : https://xyproblem.info .
Ask clearer defined questions to increase the likelihood of better outcomes,
