Looking for a way to do swatches on Dawn 14.x

I’m using the latest version of Dawn for my store, and want to be able to have color swatches for my products. Ideally I’d like to use what I’m hearing is a newly released native functionality that doesn’t require apps, but I was told this needs some code to enable. I’m also not sure it’ll have everything I need. Here’s what I’m looking for:

• Color swatches, one or two color, three-color would be nice but not required
• Image swatches to allow for named “color” options (e.g. “I’m not picky” or “Custom”)
• Conditional logic to show/hide a custom text field when the “custom” color is selected
• Applies only to products selected/indicated, since I may have other products with color swatches that have a different hex value. Example: red 3D printing vs. red shirt

I’m okay with using an app if necessary but I’ve had trouble finding one that actually meets all these needs in a way that looks good and is easy to use. Paid apps are fine but free is preferred for now since I’m on a budget at the moment.
