No homepage section after clicking customization dawn theme

New to Shopify...

Just signed up and wanted to start with Dawn. 
In all the explainer videos after clicking on customize button you end up on a page where on the left you see the build up of your home page.

When I click on customize I only see a template section for a opening soon form.. 

I am just browsing around and I did not pay for a subscription yet.

Do i have to pay to see the full Homepage I can edit?

You should be able to customize the Dawn theme without needing to pay for a subscription

You don't need a paid plan to access the full customization options for the theme; this should be available in the free plan as well.
