Number of Footer Columns

I'm currently designing the footer on my website and am struggling to find out how to determine the number of columns in the footer. Currently, there are 4 columns on the top of the footer, but I only want three. Is there any way to get rid of one of those columns changing it from 4 -> 3? I am using the empire theme.
