Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
Hi, so I wanted some opinions on this. I have been trying to get my page size under 2mb, and came up with the idea to ask ai to make me a code that will make the code of my choice load once the mouse is moved or the page is scrolled.
so I did this with the userway accessibility widget, my judge.me reviews, the google ratings badge, the announcement bar, and my mega menu. my site dropped almost 1mb in size and the speeds went up quite a bit. I'm wondering if there could be any potential bad seo effects from doing this though. Whats your thoughts?
my site is alanrichardtextiles.com
thanks
Hi,
I didn't understand what you meant by loading the code later. I don't think what you're talking about is possible with a simple ChatGPT prompt. It's a complicated thing that took years to develop by large corporations. I believe what you did is probably wrong and could harm your website more than help it. If you want, you can send me the code to review.
Also, you have a bigger problem than you expect. If you check your website console( https://postimg.cc/G9BRj7Pp ), you'll see errors that continue endlessly. This can decrease performance and other things that affect your website. If I had to review your overall website, I wouldn't say it's very appealing in terms of design. I suggest refining it with more customization and using free or paid themes like Dawn. These themes are designed with SEO and performance in mind and are very professional. If you need a custom design, you can contact a developer.
Best regards,
Ümit Demir
i can't see the image that you linked...
also what i mean is having certain apps/widgets load only after the page is fully loaded and once the mouse have been moved or the page has been scrolled on. if you visit my page you will see what im talking about.
I'm also not sure which errors your referring to on my website, can you please elaborate?
@alanrichardtex chatgpt et al. make stuff up they LIE,
So if you don't know what your doing in a specific field you literally can't tell how bad LLMs like chatgpt are lying.
Does the site work?
yes - great! chatgpt managed to nail it. Or you are unable to identify what it has broken and wont know until sales drop or customers complain.
no - site is broken, not good chatgpt is being used in a way that wastes everyones time fixing what it did including answering questions about how bad it broke things.
Only use generated autocomplete tools for output in technical domains you already have experience in.

yeah I'm aware of the risks using AI, and it definitely takes some trial and error and follow up to make sure my site is still working. orders are still coming in, I am not seeing any issue. My only concern is really about if having my mega menu and my reviews loading later only once the mouse moves or the page is scrolled on. my concern is if either of those two things will effect seo since keywords are in the navigation and in the reviews
