Product Description section in theme editor for SEO

Hi All,

Apologies for lengthy context, I need to explain my issue and get help. I have a confusion and I'm hoping you can help me learn and take the correct direction. I have a e-commerce store for clothing, I have a small inventory and I only sell a few products. So a very small startup. My pages are not ranking and frankly I cant afford expensive consultants to help me. So I'm hoping I'll get support from the community.

I have created products in Shopify Admin. I have also entered detailed product description.  I am using the Flow theme. When I look at the product pages of my competitors which are ranking on Google page 1, I dont see much text on the page. I see 8-10 Product Images, some basic Product Description and a few features listed.

When I created my product pages, I entered a detailed Product Description, list of product features and any other information similar to my competitors product pages via Shopify Admin. However, I am not getting anywhere with the ranking.

I have a confusion and a concern. Confusion is that I already have the Product Description for the product in Shopify Admin this also contains the list of features. So when I go to theme editor, I want to have my own creative page design, therefore I dont want the detailed product description to show as a paragraph, I want to have the information displayed across the page in different sections.

So I create multiple sections with the information spread in different sections and I hide the Product Description by hiding the Product Details section.

So my questions is that if I hide the Product Description (from Shopify Admin product page) in the theme editor, then does that mean that google is reading the information twice? Wouldn't that mean that the Google will see this as an attempt for Keyword Stuffing?

Kindly please advise what is the best way of doing this. Should I have two product descriptions, detailed one in Shopify Admin that is hidden and a shorter one on theme editor which visitors can see? Together these combine to create a detailed content for Google to index?

Please guide me how it actually works.

Hi @ali78

If you hide the product description in the theme editor, Google won’t give much value to hidden content, and it might not even read it the way you’d hope. So, rather than having two versions (a hidden detailed one and a short visible one), it's best to display everything you want Google to index on the visible page. Don’t worry about keyword stuffing as long as the content feels natural and useful to customers. Best approach? Structure your content creatively but make sure all the key info is still visible. Break it into sections, use headings, and keep it easy to read for both Google and your visitors. This way, you keep your design clean and boost SEO. Also, make sure your titles, meta descriptions, and image alt tags are optimized with keywords, and don’t forget mobile optimization for better rankings. Furthermore, you should keep in mind that increasing domain authority with building some backlinks and producing high-quality blog content linking to products can help boosting rank on Google.
