Received email that my theme doesn't have valid license

I received one email last night saying: "We have identified that your Shopify store is currently using a theme without a valid license. This situation is in violation of Shopify’s terms of service and may lead to the suspension of your store and a halt to its operations."

Then a second email this morning from the same sender address: "This is to remind you on the recent issue we identified with the unlicensed theme and corrupted robots.txt file in your Shopify store. These could impact your store's performance and search rankings, so addressing them promptly is important."

Ive read a few posts on reddit where people are thinking this is just spam. I am using the California theme, purchased it a few years ago. The odd thing is when I go to the Shopify theme store, view the California theme, it shows the option to purchase it? 

Has anyone else dealt with this?

These are scammer. Make sure you check the email domain. Here it is gmail. Shopify team uses @shopify only.
