Removal of 'Add to Cart' button but customer can still purchase items

Hi All, 

 

I have items on my site that I have as view only. In the theme editor I have removed the buy and add to cart buttons and added a button that just links to a page that tells the customers its for instore only. 

 

I have customers that are still able to add items to their cart and purchase the items even with the buy buttons completely removed. 

 

How is this possible? I cant figure this out.

This is a tricky one.  I can see the "Add to cart" form submission is removed. So, it appears your customers are not using the product page to add the product to cart. Have you listed your products somewhere else, for example, in the "Shop" channel, Facebook store, etc

The item is only available in the online store sales channel, nothing else. 

 

Its been driving me crazy trying to figure it out. When we ask the customers they just say that they were able to add it to their cart but I cannot seem to replicate that process.

Hi @Kenton2 ,
We're having the same problem. Did you by any chance manage to figure out what caused it?
We also have products that are only listed in the shop, with stock set to zero and a properly hidden "add to cart" button (it doesn't show up when using "Inspect" in G Chrome) replaced by a "request a quote" button/form.
Any info would be massively appreciated!

Hi, 

I never came to a solid conclusion on what caused it. I ended up removing the items from all channels but online store and it stopped. Not sure if that was the solution though. I even reached out to shopify directly and they were unable to provide a solution. It might have to do with the users cookies settings as every customer I had purchase the items had a previous session / visit? The customers I followed up with just stated the add to cart button was available.
