Shipping, Local Delivery, Pickup - want all options displayed on first checkout page

1 0 0

I need to offer SHIPPING, LOCAL DELIVERY, and LOCAL PICKUP as options in checkout... however, the LOCAL DELIVERY option is hidden under 'Shipping' -- in other words, you have to select 'SHIPPING' with the radio button before it brings you to the Local Delivery Option. Not real intuitive if a customer would not need shipping, they wouldn't choose that option. Is there a way to have all 3 options listed immediately in that first page of the checkout process? See attachment for clarification of the problem.

Hi, @youbetchagal!

I totally understand your concerns here. I see how customers can potentially miss the Local delivery option entirely due to it being located under the Ship option on checkout. I have a workaround for this that I'll lay out below for you.

To clarify though, the checkout page of a store is a secured page, so the source code of this page is not made available to be edited in order to keep the information inputted on checkout safe for both merchants and their customers. Because of this, you won't be able to move the Local delivery option on the checkout process.

What you can do, however, is change the wording of your Ship option on the first page of your checkout to reflect both Shipping and Local delivery, like the image below.

To achieve this, you'll need to:

  1. Navigate to your Shopify admin > Online store > Themes
  2. On your current theme, select the dropdown Actions button > Edit languages
  3. On the Filter items search bar, type the word Ship. From there, scroll down until you find the heading Checkout delivery options
  4. Change the wording under the Ship section to reflect that when customers select the Ship option, they will be able to select either Shipping or Local delivery. See image below for an example
  5. Click Save, then test your checkout to make sure that the change is now reflected on your storefront

As mentioned, I see how beneficial it is to have the Local delivery shipping option on the first page of a store's checkout. I'm happy to forward this feedback and your thoughts to our developers so that we can look at ways to improve the platform for you and all of our merchants. Any updates to our platform will be listed in our changelog here.

That doesn't help at all because then the cart defaults to shipping and charges then shipping fees.  THey can't select LOCAL DELIVERY any more.  Shopify needs to get over fixing everything through apps.  We are apped out, shouldn't cost $100 a month to plug all of the holes in shopify.

Hi @youbetchagal ,

Klaudia here from the Zapiet team! If you're looking for an app that clearly communicates the checkout method to your customers, I'd like to recommend our app - Store Pickup + Delivery

Our app appears on the cart page and from here, customers would be able to choose the method. Here's what our app's widget looks like on our Demo Store:

Choosing the right method from the cart page will help to make things clearer for your customers! In addition, we're able to show the correct rate according to the checkout method selected on our widget. For example, if a customer chooses local delivery, they will only see the local delivery rate (customers won't be able to choose the wrong rate).

If you haven't already, sign up for our 14-day free trial! You may also visit our Demo Store to explore and interact with our widget!

I hope this helps and if you have any other questions, I would be delighted to answer them!

Wishing you a wonderful day!
