Should I edit the base.css file or append to it for best practice?

Hi

New to shopify so just would like to know whether its best practise to edit the base.css file or append to the bottom of it. 

The reason why i ask is because I am not sure how updates work with Shopify and dont want to go down a route now that will cause me problems in the future.

hi you can add another css file  and work on it if you don't want to change anything in base.css
