Show vendor in Shopify orders admin page but not in the cart

Does anyone know how to show the vendor name in the Shopify admin orders page but not show it in the cart to the customer?  We have multiple items that are similar but come from different sources and would like to identify it on the admin side but not the customer visible side.. using the Dawn theme.. thanks

I would suggest you to create locations for each vendor and put each vendor items under dedicated location. In that case you will see your order items grouped by location (which could contain the name of the vendor).

It will not only let you know vendor of the item, but simplity order fulfillment process as well.

Hi Simon.. so we have many of vendors that we drop ship from and the main thing we are trying to accomplish to show our order management team where the vendor is from.. I'm including a screenshot of where we'd like to show the vendor in the orders admin.. is this possible...

If you have a lot of vendors it may be a bit difficult to accomplish.
Where are you sourcing them from?

Assignment of locations can be done in bulk using catalog import/export, but for that you need to know to which vendor each item belongs to.
Attaching screenshot of how it looks like when you create locations and assign items to them, personally I would go this way. You may shose some other workarounds like adding supplier name on one of the existing fields which are provided on order page (like SKU), but that would be a workaround. Also unfortunately adding additional field (as you displayed on your screenshot) isn't possible on shopify.

these fields were added by a variant app we use and it's showing on this page.. where would that app be adding the code to show on this page?  maybe I can add it there?

Those additional fields you see on order are custom product properties which can be added during order creation, there are some tutorials on internet how to add those properties on product page.

But I believe you could simply use product vendor name on theme code for this additional field and vendor would be added on each line litem. Of course you would need to make that component invisible to customers couldn't customize it. This is theoretical example, but I am quite certain it should work in practice.
