showing automatic discounts on product grid and product pages in debut theme

I am using debut theme and have created a 25% off automatically applied discount on my collection of round beads here:

I would like to know how i can get the discount and sale to be displayed on both the product grid page and also on the individual product page just like it does on the shopping cart page here:

at the moment the customer has no idea there is a discount on an item until they have added it to the cart, I want them to see the discount while they are shopping for the item in my catalog.  also this has forced me to do a sloppy workaround where i include in the the title of the sale page collection the text: (add to cart to see sale pricing)

To be clear i have seen a workaround were you set the product price to the discount price and then make the compare at price the regular price.  This workaround is not a solution because it would force me to individually change every item i want to apply a discount to and then when the sale is over i would have to then go back and one by one change them back, therefore please do not post this solution as a response to this posting, thanks!
