SKU keeps resetting to First Item in Selection Group

I have meticulously taken the time to copy and past ALL the appropriate SKUs for different variants as they are each individual designs with a common theme . I was ready to set my site live and realized that the SKUs have all reset to one SKU. pretty much the pictures are good and prices , but now I have to go back and redo all the SKUs. Does anyone know why this is happening?

What am I doing wrong ?
