Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
Why would Shopify allow certain aspects (like font or picture size) to be adjustable in one theme, and then not another?
I have tried 5 different themes now. I can't even find a contact to send this valid complaint to the company.
Why would one theme give me font size options but not let me shrink or enlarge a picture, and vice versa?
I am heartbroken over my money and time spent trying to make my website (I have plenty of experience with websites and html, I am just not versed in CSS), when simple user-friendly adjustments are only allowed in sporadic places.
Who can I talk to about this? Maybe Shopify doesn't even realize this is a problem, but it is, and it makes me want to pay a different company after my annual contract expires.
I have come so far in getting to know the Shopify system, but these illogical design issues are stopping me from activating my page for sales, and that is hurting my bottom line.
Will someone please contact me? Thank you
Thank you so much for reaching out to our community forums with your feedback. So you know, we absolutely want to hear your feedback about the platform! While we don't have a specific channel for gathering feedback, all our frontline support (social media, community forum, live chat, email, etc) have the ability to gather feedback and submit it to the appropriate teams, and we absolutely do!
Each of our original free themes in the theme store are unique and offer different design experiences and layouts. Some of them (like Venture) are the very first themes we started with. With that in mind, as merchant demands increased and new themes were created to address those needs, differences in the theme files happened. Sometimes, this is because integrating a specific feature (like changing the number of columns on a collection page) can really interfere with other aspects (like image size or positioning).
Yes, our theme support team is definitely aware of the differences between each free theme. One of the ways we have recently addressed this is by releasing our newest and most updating theme Dawn. Dawn runs on our online store 2.0 framework and is the basis for all new theme files created moving forward. Our other themes are now considered "vintage" and have limited support from our in house design team because of this.
