Trying to edit menu without changes going live

Hello! 👏😊

So I'm trying to make changes to the menu navigation without those changes going live to the actual website but whenever I add a new menu item and click save, those changes are immediately applied to the live version of the website and I do NOT want this. I've tried making a duplicate of the live version and editing from there but I can't seem to figure out how to do this without it changing the live site. I've included some screenshots of what my screen looks like. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is an accepted solution.

So I've talked with Shopify support and they say it is not possible to make changes to the navigation menu without those changes going live. Here is my chat with them:

  • Shopify Support

          So unfortunately its not possible to play around with this as the navigation is set to the live                theme.

           I'm trying to make another navigation link that goes to a different page and move some of                 the content from one page to another, is this possible without those changes going live?

  • Shopify Support

        No so any navigation changes made in the admin are automatically updated on the live site.              You would need to password protect your store to customers if you want to make changes                like this while not having customers accessing this.

  • Troy

          Is there any way to make a complete copy of the entire store that isn't linked to the live store            and can have changes made to it?

  • Shopify Support

    So you can duplicate the theme but the navigation menu only changes on the live store so you would need to password protect the store and then make the changes.

@troyy

From over here you can change menu for that specific theme
(customize-> Header-> Menu)

You can duplicate the menus using Menufy (https://getmenufy.com) The free plan should be enough for your use case. Then in your theme, just link your navigation to these new duplicated menus.

Hope this helps!
