Trying to get better navigation for our website

When our website was first created Shopify was still in its early days and there wasn't a lot of time to develop it, so there are a lot of weird design decisions and one of those is that for our navigation we have what we call a “Shop By Bike” system where you select the brand your looking for in a header and then that takes you to a page where you can select the bike, and the model of lights you want. We tried removing the system and switching over to entirely using Shopify's filters and our search, but people preferred the “Shop By Bike” system, so we brought it back. Although, the problem is with how the system is set up. The navigation was set up using Shopify tables, which are a pain to work with and for some reason each row is a different table. Because of this, the tables themselves don't really align, Images don't seem to center correctly, and images seem to resize without any input. They are just a nightmare to work with, and also how the pages were set up don't really help either. So, I'm working on getting something new going. I thought maybe a page template with a gallery section could work well, but I'm not too knowledgeable on how to do those. I tried watching a tutorial and doing some testing, but I'm not sure if it would work. Furthermore, I'm not too keen on Shopify design, so I was wondering if anyone had a good solution.
