Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
Hello friends 👋
My first public Shopify app (FieldsRaven) got approved!🎉🕺🏻
The app is built for theme developers in mind so it’s not listed ATM.
The idea of the app is pretty simple, it’s exposing the Metafields API on the storefront through a Shopify app proxy – to make sure the request is legit and secure – so you may take full advantage of creating (or updating) metafields on the storefront.
As a developer you just need to write in Liquid, JS and FieldsRaven will handle what’s under the hood to help you unlock the full potential of Shopify themes.
I built FieldsRaven to be a storefront metafields kit for Shopify developers.
If you think this might be useful to you (and/or your clients) and you’d like to take the app for a test drive (or take a peak at the docs), please let me know and I'll send the links your way.
Also feel free to take a swing at the idea, all comments are welcome! ☮️✌🏼
@KarimTarek Nice idea we always need better development tooling for shopify features.
You might want to list some use cases to get some longtail interest from forums searches.
For apps allowing frontend editing of backend data the most common use case I can think of is letting customers edit their own tags or impact order tags with a form.
If not already might want to consider a setup that allows metafields(mfs') to CRUD allowed|whitelisted customer tags since mf's are not first class citizens in the admin search UI's.

@PaulNewton thanks!
Right now I have two theme extensions that comes pre-built with the app, they are provided as examples, however they are 100% functional:
Another example I'm planing to build on top of FieldsRaven is a wishlist feature.
Hi Karim,
Congratulations on posting your first public app!
An option to expose metafields to the Storefront API was warmly welcomed by our users (especially by tech people) and now it's quite a popular feature.
You're definitely on the right track. Keep up the good work!
