Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
Hi!
This question has been asked many times but I only found answers that are linked to the usage when a customer needs to upload an image. I simply want to have the file/image on our shopify to be able to link it. The customer will never interact with that specific image.
does anyone have a solution? I saw some sugglestions like these,
But they seem to be designed for cusotmer use.
Also I need the file to be store on the shopify admin, not on a dropbox..
thank you!
Hi, @CStark.
Thank you for reaching out and posting this question!
I understand that you're looking for a way to upload files greater than 20MB on the Shopify admin. While anything greater than 20MB does exceed the current file requirements, most images shouldn't be a problem. However, for larger file types, such as videos, we'd recommend using YouTube or Vimeo.
That being said, I understand that being able to upload files larger than 20MB is an important function for you, and I'd be happy to submit a feature request on your behalf to our development team. If Shopify moves forward with any changes or updates to file uploads, then we'll be sure to announce them on the Shopify Changelog.
As for the apps you've shared, they are designed for customers to upload files on your storefront so they wouldn't be for uploading files to the Shopify admin. Instead, you can explore file storage solutions, such as DropBox or FTP, and/or consider hiring a developer to custom code your theme to fetch specific files from external/third-party storage solutions. If you need help finding a developer, then I'd recommend taking a look at our directory of certified developers on Shopify Experts.
I'd love to hear more about your business! What kinds of products do you sell? Do you need to upload large files often and why?

Hey, @Osc1 & @pixelsaurus79.
Thank you both for joining the thread.
I understand that you have files larger than 20 MB, and one solution would be to explore file hosting solutions - such as Dropbox or FTP. While I'd also be happy to share your feedback as a feature request with our development team, this wouldn't be something that I can provide a timeline on for when these changes can be made. That being said, if Shopify moves forward with any new features or changes to our platform, then we'll be sure to announce them on the Shopify Changelog.
If you have any other questions on this topic, then don't hesitate to let me know!

Hi Elias, do you have any updates on this?
I also am looking to host a large PDF on my Shopify website that I can drive traffic to as a "freebie." Hosting it on Dropbox or FTP looks unprofessional; every brand that does this normally hosts the file on their domain.
Has Shopify addressed this since you last wrote?
I would like an update on this issue too. I have PDFs that are larger than 20MBs, about 40MB, any chance for me to upload files larger than 20MB?
