Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
Hello everyone, hope you're all doing great!
I'm facing an issue with my collection page. It doesn't show a 404 error even when I enter an incorrect URL.
For example, my collection URL is:
If I modify it to:
Instead of showing a 404 error page, it still redirects to the same collection page.
Does anyone have a solution for this? I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!
Hey! This behavior is actually how Shopify handles collection URLs by default. When you add anything extra after the correct collection URL (like /lol in your example), Shopify ignores it and still loads the main collection page instead of showing a 404 error.
Unfortunately, there’s no built-in setting to change this behavior. However, if you really want invalid URLs to show a 404 page, you might need to use custom code or set up URL redirects in your Shopify settings. Another option is using Liquid code in your theme to check for invalid URLs and manually trigger a 404 page.
