vimeo videos in product pages

Hi all,

I am trying to upload vimeo videos in my product pages but I saw that shopify only supports Youtube videos. Anyone knows if there is any possibility to add vimeo videos as a part of product medias? Thank you in advance,

Nick here from Shopify. Great question! 

As you mentioned YouTube would be the only video platform that can be embedded in the community. The only way to share a Vimeo video right now would be to share the link in your post. You could also hyperlink if you wish, but just not embed it into the post. You can add a hyperlink by highlighting some text and then clicking where the screenshot points to on the RTE.

I will also be sure to pass this feedback to the community development for future consideration.

I too am having an issue with getting the vimeo (or youtube) videos to be viewable.  I installed the vimeo app and I can get them to show up in the product images but it shows the "you may need to update your theme" message.

Can I ask where you are trying to add the videos to be viewable. Is this in your public storefront somewhere? 

If you could also let me know what theme and app you are using and where you are seeing the error message exactly?

I wanted to provide an update on this topic.  

You can now add Vimeo videos to your products, giving you more options for displaying media on product pages. Using product media lets your customers see what your products look like and give them a better idea of how they appear in real life.

A second hosting option gives you more control over how you share your business’s content. As an added benefit, Vimeo videos don't have a “recommended” screen at the end of the video, which keeps the focus on your brand.

To add a video:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Products.
2. Click a product to see its details page.
3. Click Add media from URL > Embed video.
4. Insert your Vimeo-hosted video’s URL.

You can add up to 250 images, 3D models, or videos to a product.

Hi everyone,

I've tried embedding a video from Vimeo into my product page but got two issues:

- The video uploaded is 1500x2000px, however the thumbnail is landscape and doesn't match the stills, and the video doesn't fill the space like the stills and only plays small 

- is there a way to remove all the Vimeo icons and just have the video to play in loop?
