Want to change the add to cart button to 'will be available to purchase on [insert date]'

Hi

I am wanting to add code which would enable me to change my 'add to cart' button to 'will be available to purchase on [insert date]' for a specific collection in my art gallery. I am an artist and run differing exhibitions online and want to do previews of these collections/exhibitions whereby people can view the artworks for sale, but not purchase for a few days before the exhibition/listings officially open for sales on a specific date.

Previously, I have had an expert do this for me, but I'd like to learn how to do it myself as it gets quite costly each time I need to do it - is there a specific code I can use and could anyone help run me through this?

Thank you!

Heather

Hi @Heatheri2

You can create a metafield at product level and custom code in your theme.

Whenever you fill the value into the metafield buy now and add to cart option will be hidden and message entered in metafield will be shown for that product.

By using metafield you will be able to put different msg for every product.

Its a one time code needs to be done in code.

Hope this will help...

Could you possibly run me through how to do this?

I did have a Shopify expert enable this for me in previous exhibitions and there is a meta field already assigned on my store (presuming it is to do with this) but I can't get hold of this expert any longer unfortunately 😞

He also enabled a sold 'red dot' badge for any pieces sold on the site which looks great for artworks, however, if I try to put products up using the 'unavailable' field

using the default content via themes in online store (which would work adequately for smaller exhibitions) the red 'sold' dot comes up on the product in the collection page which i don't want as this will confuse people when viewing our preview.  Hope that makes sense!

Basically, I need to find the code for the red dot so I can possibly take this on and off when needed if I use the unavailable button for when the preview is on.

Hi @Heatheri2

I understand you want to lower your cost and I will make sure that you know each and every step how to do this without my help.

But doing all these codes need hours of coding which attracts cost.

For more information you can connect over the WhatsApp details are in BIO.

Hope you understand.
