What's the best SKU format for an online grocery store?

I am planning to set up an online grocery shop.

I was wondering whether there is any specific format for SKU.

Best we use where we have 5000+ products is to prefix with Supplier short form and then supplier supplied SKu code . This will help you manage re-order and we also create meta field (non-public) to connect supplier name

Hi @gfh2022 

We are not sure all the suppliers have SKU. May be we have to make our own.

For example, if supplier XYZ is supplying Chilli Powder 500 gram.

We may make something like XY-SP-CH-PR-500, where XY is supplier, SP is for spices, CH is for chilli, PR for powder and 500 is meaurement.

We may have to keep it in an excel sheet and make sure we don't repeat the SKUs.
