Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
Some elements on my shopify store have disappeared from the live site and even all backup versions of the theme.
A custom section is still included in the "customize your website" section, but not visible at all, and the neighbouring sections seem to have taken its place. And on one of my collection page some cards are just empty, the product still exists on the back end, but the card shows nothing, and seems to be missing part of the code. Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening? Especially strange because this just happened now and it is even affecting other backed up versions of this theme that I have made no changes to for many days.

@rfrauzino 1) you have js error - https://mykitee.com/js/ABN-Pixel-Facebook-1131041790573386.js?shop=cafe-pista.myshopify.com doesn't load
- Disable or uninstall that app and see if you have the same issue
b) disable or remove the VIDEO on home and see if that fixes it.
If not, I can send you a collaborator request, you can give me access and I can check the code.
Try the above first.
If you need FB pixel. You can add the EDIT CODE --> theme.liquid

@rfrauzino contact your theme developer. OR are you using a FREE theme?
Using the base theme "Taste" which is a free theme
@rfrauzino a) make a backup of your site (ONLINE STORE --> select dots drop down or actions drop down to the left of CUSTOMIZE) and select DUPLICATE
b) go and INSTALL AN NEW version of TASTE
c) activate the new version of TASTE without any customizations and test it.
Does the problem still persist?
d) if so, reactivate your BACKUP
f) check your apps and see if there are any new apps that were added or updated around the time you started seeing this happen. Sometimes, app devs update their apps and their code conflicts with something in the themes.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks for the suggestions. The issue with products in one of the collections displaying empty cards seems to have solved itself? Not sure how that happened as I haven't touched anything for a couple hours.
I also downloaded a fresh version of TASTE and then re-added my custom section that has disappeared and that problem persists. So I can still add and customize the section, but it doesn't propagate to the visual site.
The only thing I could think of is I contacted one of the apps we're using to update on our new website, I suppose there could be some conflicting code happening.
@rfrauzino what is the URL?
cafepista.com but nothing looks obviously off at the moment. I replaced the vanishing custom section with a different base section for the moment, and all product cards are appearing normally on the live website for the moment. However I am noticing some discrepencies depending on which browser being used. Chrome shows all available products normally in the "gear" section, while firefox is missing a few.

It seems that Pixel may have been an old app that no longer exists or isn't functional, so I've uninstalled it. I also have another app that is currently updating their code for our website, so I think I'll wait until they're finished before I start making any changes. If the problems still persist afterwards I'll let you know and maybe ask for you to take a look. Thanks
Thanks for your help, it's all been sorted. It seems that it was related to the app installation and when they finished everything is how it should be.
@rfrauzino my pleasure. When you uninstall apps, there is always left over code, so it is best to contact the app developers to remove them for you. That is what you pay them for 🙂
