Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
Hello!
I am using a trial template that I wan't to roll out soon. Therefore I started the design process.
As I created a custom landing pages for new collection launches (see screenshot: "new-collection" and "lpu-capsule" I built a few custom themes, but I can't assign them to the pages, resulting in having the default template showing every time the banner gets clicked.
I attached some screen shots.
Have you added template in live theme? Because only live theme templates show here
Hi! It is only a trial theme, I wanted to finalize it before making it live. This means I can only work on the page structure and landing page if the theme is live?
Yes only live theme templates will show
Hey NomtechSolution,
Just wanted to clarify - So if I am using a trial theme (havent paid for it yet), I am unable to assign a custom page until I have paid for it and it is live?
Are you saying that I cannot preview a page template until and unless the theme itself is live and in use? How can I do testing without impacting the live site, if that is the case?
To assign a custom theme to your landing pages in Shopify, you need to follow these steps:
1. From your Shopify admin, go to "Online Store" and then "Pages."
2. Select the landing page you want to assign a custom theme to.
3. In the "Template" section on the right-hand side, click on "Change template."
4. In the dialog box that appears, choose the custom theme you want to assign to the landing page.
5. Save your changes.
After assigning the custom theme to the landing page, it should use the selected template instead of the default one when the banner is clicked.
If you're unable to assign the custom theme or if the changes are not reflected on the landing page, make sure that the custom theme is properly installed and activated in your Shopify store. You may need to double-check the theme settings and ensure that it is compatible with the landing page builder you're using.
If you continue to encounter difficulties, reaching out to Shopify Support would be advisable. They can provide specific guidance based on your store's setup and help you resolve any issues you're facing.
I think this is so rediculous as how can you ask a client to pay for a theme if you can't show them the whole website and theme? I don't understand. This is so crazy.
Being in the same boat. This sucks!
So How are you doing that?
I bought the theme 😐
Not sure if this is any help - but I was having the same issue. To overcome this, you can create your custom page in navigation and create the template page when your customising like normal. To actually assign the page, you will need to do this on a live website, but this could be a free one and it'll work in the trial theme. So, it should save you money if you do need to customise for the future.
